Richard Johnson is an architect and Director of Johnson Pilton Walker, a leading architectural practice in Sydney, Australia. He has worked both nationally and internationally, with his work varying from pavilions at world expose, to detailed museum and museum/gallery exhibition design, embassies, schools, office buildings, hotels and a range of master planning and urban design, landscape design and architectural projects in Australia and China – all involving exceptional design solutions.
His interests are broadly spread from architecture and urban design to the design of museums and exhibitions. He is active in the professional and educational arenas and is an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of NSW. He was awarded the 2008 RAIA Gold Medal. In 1998 he was appointed to advise the Sydney Opera House Trust on the strategic plan for the future of the Sydney Opera House, and has collaborated with both Jorn Utzon, and his son Jan, on the project.
